The creator of ‘Coronation Street’ has died aged 79. “It’s with great sadness that Coronation Street confirms legendary creator & writer Tony Warren MBE has passed away.” – says the soap’s official Twitter account. Warren died this Tuesday (March 1st) surrounded by his family.
He had always been openly gay and he was very afraid to be arrested for his homosexuality when it sued by law. He described the show as “queerest soap of them all” and said he wouldn’t have created the show unless he was gay. Like any other gay man, he dealt with homophobia, but he did not allow anybody to hurt him and never tried to change himself being very proud of who he is. He gave a great example and he will remain forever in people’s memory…..
