A small army of LGBT-friendly police officers is already training in Scotland. The main task of this special group will be to prevent the crimes on the homophobic background and to investigate them if they are committed.
LGBTI charity the Equality Network is going to collaborate with the Scottish police due to two main reasons – to decrease the number of hate crimes and to make people trust the police.
The spokeperson of the Scottish police says that they are very proud to work with the Network and that winning hate crime has always been one of the polices main priorities. The police insist on immediate reporting about being a victim or a witness of a crime on the homophobic background and promises to bring all the offenders to justice. The majority of LGBT people who are bullied or physically assaulted are often afraid to report to the police and the situation needs to be changed.
