Gay cure therapists tried to ‘cure’ lesbian patient with rocks

Alex Cooper was forced to carry a bag with rocks. The person who made a young girl do it had a purpose to cure her from lesbianism. Alex used to be a Mormon and the Mormon church denies that there are no gay people in their church. That is why if some Mormon comes out as a gay, the task of the church is to cure them, like homosexuality is a kind of disease. This ‘therapy’ often includes beatings, forcing her to stand facing a wall for up to 18 hours a day, and making her wear a backpack full of rocks.

“It’s like sending you to therapy to change your eye colour… it’s not going to work. What it’s going to do is damage you.” says Alex. The LDS Church said in a statement: “The Church denounces any therapy that subjects an individual to abusive practices. “We hope those who experience the complex realities of same-sex attraction find compassion and understanding from family members, professional counsellors and church members.”
