The former Olympic champion Ian Thorpe who came out as gay 2 years ago says that now he feels responsible for the people who are now on the way to accept their sexuality. He says that helping out the people is something he likes and wants to do, it is his mission.
Ian says that he always knew that he was gay, but hid it. Now he regrets about it saying that if he had come out earlier, he would feel much more comfortable with it, and hiding his real personality and sexuality even from himself was very difficult.
He denies that he is a voice of his group or a role model, saying that only many voices can be heard in this case, and he is very new to this and has no experience of leading other people.
