Tymur Levchuk and Zoryan Kis tied the knot despite the country they live in is not ready to recognize their union officially. The boys said that they did not want to wait for Ukraine to legalize gay marriage, so they exchanged their vows this month after the engagement a year ago on the banks of Synevyr Lake.
“It was a romantic evening… I felt like we are alone in the world, so I proposed to Tymur, and he said yes,” Kis says. Tymur and Zoryan are both LGBT activists who fight for the marriage equality in their country. Their social position has connected them and brought together. So, with their union they are not only celebrating their love, they are also showing an example of fighting against LGBT discrimination and doing tiny steps to legalizing of same-sex marriage in Ukraine
