The first transgender person in the White House became Envoy for LGBT Rights


Raffi Freedman-Gurspan was appointed Special Representative of US President Barack Obama’s administration on relations with the LGBT community. 28-year-old woman has become the first transgender person in the office, who was established in February 2015.

“President Obama has said that he wants his administration to reflect all of America, so of course, there has to be transgender” – reacted to the appointment of Friedman-Gurspen the National Center for Transgender Equality (NTSRT) quoted him as representative of GSN.

Raffi Friedman-Gurspen has a great administrative experience. She used to be an employee of the House of Representatives of Massachusetts, then held the post of advisor to the NTSRT. And within the walls of the White House she began her work in August 2015, when she was appointed director of recruiting the personnel department.
