Ukrainian government has lifted the ban on blood donation for homosexuals. This is stated in the Cabinet of Ministers approved the action plan to implement the National human rights strategy in the period up to 2020.
The document proposes to withdraw from the Ukrainian Ministry of Health regulations governing the donation of blood and its components, the position of the forms of risk-taking behavior, which act as absolute contraindications to blood donation. In particular, we are talking about homosexual relationships, providing sexual services for a fee, sexual relations with unfamiliar individuals without a condom, frequent change of sexual partners and drug use.
According to the plan, the appropriate changes in the regulations the Ministry of Health must make before the second quarter of 2016.
In December 2015, the first in the United States was lifted a ban on receiving blood donations from gay and bisexual men, abstaining from sex for over a year.
