Musical theater boycotts USA anti-LGBT laws

‘West Side Story’ is not going to be played in North Carolina and Mississippi because of their anti-LGBT laws. Music Theatre International (MTI) announced that the license for a musical to be performed in these 2 states would not be given until the laws were cancelled.

A statement reads: “MTI serves as an agent for the rightsholders whose shows we represent. The rightsholders of this show have made their intentions clear and MTI will not issue new licenses for this show within North Carolina or Mississippi until we receive new instructions.”. So, the musical stars and theater owners are now joining to the list of celebrities boycotting anti-LGBT laws.
