The new hostel for gay refugees is now in Berlin


In the Berlin district of Treptow opened the first hostel in the German capital for gay refugees.

It can accommodate up to 125 people. According to the urban focal point for integration Dilek Kolat, LGBT people are in need of special protection.

As noted, in the period from December to April 2016 all occurred about 95 attacks on homosexuals and transsexuals. Many of them were made in the shelters for refugees. In particular, we are talking about the mental and sexual abuse, insults and threats.

German authorities believe that among the total number of refugees, there are 4-8% gay. The first such shelter in Germany previously opened in Nuremberg.

Last year, with the application for the right to shelter 1.1 million people applied in Germany.
