Italy’s lower house of parliament yesterday expressed confidence in the government of Matteo Renzi, at the same time supporting the government’s bill to legalize same-sex civil unions.

For confidence in the government and the bill on same-sex unions have voted 369 deputies, against – 193. The law in Italy legalizing gay unions adopted.

It is the result of a serious compromise. Recall, February 25, the National Senate of the Italian Parliament by a majority of votes supported the amendment, which equate same-sex civil unions to the so-called traditional families. But before that happened, the document excluded from the rule of the right of same-sex couples to adopt children. Also in favor of opponents of the law removed the reference to the faithfulness of spouses. At the same time gay couples may adopt the names of each other and inherit pension rights.

The draft law was presented to the members of the ruling Democratic Party in October 2015.
