Tomorrow in all Russian Orthodox churches will be held memorial services for the victims of AIDS

In the World Day of Remembrance for Victims of AIDS in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church will be held memorial services for people who have died from the disease.

At the initiative of the World Health Organization annually on the third Sunday in May throughout the world remembered the victims of AIDS. The first World Day of Remembrance for Victims of AIDS was held in San Francisco in 1983.

In 2016 this day is dedicated to the “Stop HIV / AIDS” All-Russian campaign, which runs from 10 to 20 May.

“The campaign is designed to attract the attention of young people to the problem of the spread of this disease”.

Today over a million people with HIV registered in Russia. According to the Federal Research and Methodological Center for Prevention and Control of AIDS, about 10% of HIV-positive – men who have sex with men. The largest number of HIV cases recorded among persons aged 25-44 years.
