Now gays and lesbians can marry only in the capital.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto suggested to change the law to allow same-sex marriage in the country.

It was noted that last year the country’s Supreme Court called the ban on such unions was unconstitutional.

Nieto said that he had signed the initiative, which will have to consolidate same-sex marriage in the Constitution and the Federal Civil Code.

Now gays and lesbians can marry only in the capital, Mexico City, and a number of staff from 31 countries.

As you know, same-sex marriages allowed in the other three Latin American countries – Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil.

Earlier, after three months of debate, the Constitutional Court of Colombia has allowed the country to register same-sex marriages.
