UNAIDS reminded of the need to end discrimination against LGBT people


The representatives of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV / AIDS (UNAIDS) called for sexual minorities to unhindered access to quality health care.

“I find it unacceptable that the representatives of the LGBT community are victims of violence and discrimination just because of the fact that they are different because of their preferences in love” – Radio UN statement quoted Michel Sidibe, Executive Director of UNAIDS, who stressed that the fight against gay discrimination – an essential element in the fight against AIDS.

Recall, May 17, 1990, 26 years ago, the World Health Organization (WHO) removed homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses. Later that day in many countries of the world have decided to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.
