Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, has become another municipality in Japan which equated to his level of same-sex unions to marriage. Now same-sex couple will be able to enjoy the same benefits as the “traditional”.
Despite the fact that the Japanese constitution defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, Takarazuka municipal government adopted a new city law. According to him constantly living with same-sex couples will be able to obtain special certificates signed by the mayor.
Earlier, similar laws were passed in Tokyo’s Setagaya and Cebu, as well as in the city of Iga, Mie Prefecture. Despite the fact that, unlike Setagaya, Takarazuka law does not oblige employers to recognize marriage certificates municipalities, large companies such as Panasonic and SoftBank, have already said they will do so.
According to recent data, about 51.1% of Japanese support the legalization of gay marriage.
