The Senator spoke after a meeting in the Oval Office with President Barack Obama this Thursday (June 9). His comments come after he said he would continue to campaign towards the Washington DC primary on Tuesday. “I look forward to meeting with her in the near future to see how we can work together to defeat Donald Trump,” said Sanders following the meeting. “These are some of the issues that many millions of Americans have supported during my campaign,” he added. “These are the issues that we’ll take to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia at the end of July.”

Sanders has been one of the most consistently pro-LGBT candidates. In May, Sanders attacked the Republican party and HB2 (‘Transgender Bathroom Bill’) in North Carolina. But he previously attracted criticism for claiming that LGBT lobbying groups are part of an “establishment” conspiracy because they endorsed Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton over him.
