Portrait of designer Alexander McQueen may appear on British banknotes

The Bank of England has offered the British to choose the hero, whose portrait appears on a new 20-pound note. Among the main contenders for the late designer Alexander McQueen.

The head of the Bank of England Governor Mark Carney said that the bill should be a person from the sphere of art. Currently, the bill shows the economist Adam Smith.

Bookmaker Ladbrokes has already announced that one of the three favorites was the legendary designer Alexander McQueen.

One of the greatest British designers did not hide his homosexuality. Short McQueen lived with a partner George Forsyth, but then they broke up, remaining, however, close friends. February 11, 2010 the designer was found dead at his home in London. After a long investigation the authorities acknowledged his death a suicide.
