Chelsea Manning attempted suicide in prison


Chelsea Manning’s lawyers, who was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the transfer of more than 700 thousand secret documents of Wikileaks site, confirmed that she tried to commit suicide last week.

Earlier, military command reported that July 5, 2016 Manning was immediately sent from the prison to the hospital. The reason for hospitalization condemned the military was not named.

Lawyers do not lead details of the incident and claimed that disclose information on hospitalization, the military had violated the right Manning to privacy. According to lawyers, they found about the incident only the next day from reporters.

Chelsea Manning, who was formerly known under the name of Bradley Manning, in 2013 serves a prison sentence in a military prison Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In 2014 the court granted the request of Private Manning to change his name Bradley male on female Chelsea, and in 2015 the soldier-transgender allowed to undergo hormone therapy.
