These new survey of gay and bisexual men, commissioned by the Community Healthcare Network Network (CHN) from New York, shows that almost half of the respondents engaged in unprotected sex, at least from time to time.
The target audience of the survey were men, users of applications like Grindr, Scruff and of Manhunt, who are looking for sexual partners. The survey polled 725 people from Australia, South America, Eastern Europe, the UK, Canada, and mainly the United States. The aim of the survey was to understand the views of men on HIV and unprotected sex. There was also the question of why respondents can do risky sex, and men had an opportunity not to answer as well.
81% of respondents know that HIV can be transmitted through “unprotected anal sex, vaginal sex and lesser extent oral sex”. However, almost 47% of respondents agreed that having unprotected anal sex “always, often or sometimes”, while almost 54% said that they had not engaged.
