Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh are incredibly proud of making it to the final of the Rio Olympic Games 2016. Today the team of GB is going to face-off with Norway and the girls are a littler bit nervous, but very excited and happy. Kate Richardson- Walsh, the team captain, said it will be a “really special” moment to stand on the podium next to her wife Helen, with Great Britain guaranteed at a least a silver because the women already have bronze medal from 2012 and now they want to improve the result.
The sportsmen do not make a big deal of their sexuality, but they are very happy to be a married same-sex couple representing GB. They receive a lot of support from the LGBT community, a lot of gratefulness for being a good example. And they hope to make history again becoming the first married same-sex couple with an Olympic gold, and we all cross our fingers for it.
