The bisexual actress decided to donate half of her divorcement payout to the victims of domestic violence. Heard claims that there are people who are unable to defend themselves. The actress will give half of the settlement to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to prevent violence against women, and half to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles – where she has volunteered for the past ten year .
Amber is grateful that such organisations exist and promises to continue supporting them in future. “As reported in the media, the amount received in the divorce was $7 million and $7 million is being donated. I know these organisations will put the funds to good use and look forward to continuing to support them in the future,” she added. “Hopefully, this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most.” Anthony Romero – executive director of the ACLU – said that the charity was “incredibly grateful”.
In a joint statement with Depp on August 16, Heard said the relationship was “intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.”
