A school resource officer who was caught on camera violently throwing a student across a classroom will not be legally charged. Officer Ben Fields was fired from the police after wrestling a young girl, and the solicitor said in the court summary that this punishment is enough and there is no need to charge a former officer by law.
Fields issued a statement to the court saying he had done nothing wrong, claiming the student had resisted and attempted to punch him in the face. “As I continued to use the muscling technique the student’s leg broke free from the lock the student had on the desk and the student slid across the floor,” his statement reads. The student he wrestled had numerous bruisers and a wrist fracture.
