The range of homicides of transgender people in the USA becomes bigger – black woman was killed in Alabama last month but it was reported about her death only recently. She came from North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene after housekeeping staff discovered her body on the floor of the hotel room she was staying in. She was shot to death at the Kings Inn in Birmingham, Alabama.
The victim’s sister who is also transgender, describes her sister as a light and kind person nobody would ever intend to hurt. “Her death was a huge hit for the LGBT community. There was another transgender person shot multiple times somewhere else recently. People think transgender people are monsters, when really we just want to be accepted,” she cried. The homicide division at Birmingham Police Department reportedly were aware of the victim’s gender identity but preferred not to highlight it which led to misgendering her in the media.
