JK Rowling has hinted that she will represent Dumbledore and Grindelwald in upcoming Harry Potter spin-offs. Rowling has penned the script for upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, starring Eddie Redmayne, which is set in the same universe as the Harry Potter films but takes place in 1920s New York. Many of the Harry Potter characters were not even born yet, but Dumbledore was alive and young

The producer David Heyman revealed: “We can’t tell you too because we’d have to kill you all… but we do mention Dumbledore and he features in a wonderful scene between Colin [Farrell] and Eddie [Redmayne]. Grindelwald does feature in the background and is going to become a much more prominent feature moving forward.”
