Authorities have arrested the suspect of the brutal murder of a gay Nashville,Tennessee man. Last month the body of 24-year-old Deon L. Brown was found in the parking lot of a West Nashville trucking business. He was stabbed multiple times. The victim had no identification and it took law enforcement a few days to identify him.This week, the Nashville Police Department announced the apprehension of Christopher Gadsden. According to a release, Gadsden was located in New York City on 1 December; he will be held there pending a court appearance and extradition proceedings.A warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest after Brown’s 2009 Pontiac G6 was found in Hickory, North Carolina. The police claim Gadsden drove to North Carolina after the attack.‘Hickory Police encountered Gadsden with the car, which had blood on the inside and out, late morning on 14 November,’ the police say in the statement. ‘Gadsden had a hand injury, which necessitated treatment at a hospital.’

While there were earlier reports of the attack being a hate crime, authorities have not yet officially added that charge. The victim was dressed as a woman when the body was discovered, but there have been no reports of him identifying as transgender. He does not appear to have identified as trans from his social media and friends.Brown worked as a cosmetologist. A candlelight vigil for him was held on 18 November. His funeral followed a few days later.
