Trans students are suing the school district for forbidding them to use the bathroom facilities according to their gender identity

The attorneys for two trans girls and a trans boy at the Pine-Richland High School in Pennsylvania, sued the school district back in October. Three transgender teen girls are asking the federal judge to allow them using female bathrooms at their school.

The district stopped trans kids from using gender-appropriate bathroom in September as it said it was researching a formal policy to be put in place. But for years beforehand, the district had allowed students to use the bathroom that corresponded to their gender identity. The district has defended its interim policy, saying that it does not violate Title IX federal discrimination law. It says Title IX only defines gender in biological terms, and that their policy does not break the law.
