Gay drama is nominated for Writers Guild Award

‘Moonlight’ a story of gay black man’s coming out, is about to receive one more prestigious award. The Writers Guild Awards paid a nod to the drama, nominating the team of Barry Jenkins (screenplay) and Tarell McCraney (story) for the Original Screenplay category. Moonlight goes up against hotly anticipated La La Land, as well as Manchester by the Sea, Loving, and Hell or High Water. Iyt is also nominated in a category Best Score. Also nominated for the Writers Guild Awards are Deadpool, for Adapted Screenplay, and Amazon’s comdey-drama series Transparent, starring Jeffrey Tambor. It’s the first event of the year that could see Moonlight score big, with five nominations to its name: Mahershala Ali and Naomie Harris are both nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, while Barry Jenkins received a nod for Best Screenplay.
