As Trump celebrated his inauguration, the right hand of his former rival celebrated diversity and love officiating the wedding of a lesbian couple. The couple in question, Dea Jones and Shea McLeod, had not planned to get married yet.
After going through a commitment ceremony in 2002, two years after meeting, they decided to pull up the wedding when Trump became President. “We hadn’t been in a hurry to make it legal,” one of the brides said. But the other one considered it to be rather symbolic to marry the January 20, the inauguration day, especially noting that fact that the failed VP hopeful Kaine is a good friend of her family. “How wonderful it would be on January 20th to offer love and light by Sharon and I committing ourselves to each other,” she said. Kaine, who had never officiated at a same-sex wedding previously, proudly tweeted about the event, and a pictre of the ceremony. He wrote: “Hitched! Congrats to Dea and Sharon. Was honored to officiate their wedding tonight.”
