Ofcom is especially attentive to the host over the comments he made on air. The veteran Radio 1 presenter faces the probe after jokes were broadcast by Mills and fellow presenter Chris Stark during a 24 hour marathon show to raise money for Comic Relief. Jokes includedÖ “What’s the first thing an Essex girl does in the morning? Goes home. Why does an Essex girl wear knickers? To keep her ankles warm”, and “What does an Essex girl say after her doctor tells her she is pregnant? Is it mine?”. The listeners got irritated. An Ofcom spokesperson said: “We’re investigating whether this programme breached our rules on generally accepted standards.” Now Bobby Norris, a man who lives in Essex, stars in the show about Essex and sees nothing offensive in such jokes.
