Georgian human rights activists demand legalization of same-sex partnerships in the country

Eleven non-governmental organizations of Georgia issued a joint statement demanding to guarantee the possibility of civil partnership for same-sex couples.

Human rights activists believe that in this way the negative effect of the drafting amendments to the constitution will be balanced, according to which, the definition of marriage as an alliance between a man and a woman is specified.

The statement of non-governmental organizations notes that the wording of the proposed constitutional record contains a homophobic connotation and will help to increase negative attitudes towards LGBT people in society.
