The Eurovision Song Contest will be heading to Lisbon next year, the local broadcaster confirmed. Portuguese singer Salvador Sobral brought the win to his country triumphing on Eurovision 2017 in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv last weekend. The singer won 758 points – winning both the jury vote and the public votes with emotional ballad Amar pelos dois written by his own sister who is a famous local songwriter. Portuguese broadcasters already confirmed their plans concerning Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon. “It is certain that Lisbon will [be hosting] the contest in 2018. The venue for the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest has not yet been chosen. Portugal is the host country and RTP has already put in place a year-long plan [for organising the contest] The organisation of the Eurovision Song Contest festival will involve an investment of millions of euros, but the total [cost of hosting] in Portugal is not yet known,” the statement from broadcasters says.
