Converse was bought by Nike in 2003 and now both brands are launching their new 2017 rainbow-colored collection inspired bu LGBT Pride. Nike’s BETRUE collection was launched back in 2012 and since then the company has had the mission of diversity and acceptance for everybody in sport under the slogan ‘yes to all’. “Sporting your rainbow in the gym or on a run became a way to feel like you belonged to something larger, you were connected to being ‘out’ or being an ally,” Robert Gorman, LBGT Network Leader at Nike, said, “The rainbow has and always will be incorporated into the BETRUE product in some way.” Prices range from $25 to $110 and all styles are available online and in selected stores. All the proceeds from the Converse Pride collection will be donated to LGBT organisations It Gets Better Project and The Happy Hippie Foundation representing the power of LGBT community all around the globe. Both Converse and Nike’s collections also include t-shirts, socks and rainbow laces and are available for adults and kids. On the online store of both brands it is also possible to customise your pair of shoes and make it unique. While Converse pride line is already available the ones from Nike will be on June 1. Converse and Nike are just some of many clothing brands launching rainbow themed merchandise.
