Lesbian tennis player Martina Navratilova sends a letter to Margaret Court Arena

prior to the start of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals at Singapore Sports Hub on October 20, 2014 in Singapore.

An openly lesbian tennis champ wrote a letter to Margaret Court Arena about a person it was named after.Court claimed that tennis is full of lesbian women now because the lesbian players of the previous generations (like Navratilova) influenced on them and became their role models. “It is now clear exactly who Court is: an amazing tennis player, and a racist and a homophobe. Her vitriol is not just an opinion. She is actively trying to keep LGBT people from getting equal rights (note to Court: we are human beings, too). She is demonising trans kids and trans adults everywhere. And now, linking LGBT to Nazis, communists, the devil? This is not OK. This is in fact sick and it is dangerous. Kids will suffer more because of this continuous bashing and stigmatising of our LGBT community,” Ms Navratilova wrote underlining that the arena should be renamed because Ms Court, however great sportsman she is, has views which cannot be ignored or celebrated.
