Denmark went out showing that there is no place for discrimination in football. This Tuesday Denmark welcomed Germany for a friendly football match and ahead of the LGBT Pride Month the teams considered it a great opportunity to send a massage against homophobia. Both teams’ captains – Julian Draxler for Germany and Denmark’s Christian Eriksen – swapped their usual captain’s bands for a rainbow version. Some people spotted something amiss, though: the captains wore the flag upside down. The corner flags were also rainbow -colored. Attendees were also given colorful stickers and pins which read ‘love is a human right’. And the arena occasionally showed a rainbow flag instead of advertising on some of its LED walls, too. Prior to the match, the Danish team and Amnesty also released pictures of some of the national players with rainbow-painted faces.
