The 71-year-old gay icon has finally confirmed the rumors about the musical based on the story of her life. “Just got off phone w/Writer & Director of musical. There Will [be] performance in THEATRE WITH ACTORS,DANCERS,SINGERS!! IT’ll [be] ON BROADWAY 2018,” Cher wrote in Twitter. Musical theatre writer Rick Elice, who penned the book for Jersey Boys, is also involved in the project as it has been previously announced. “They may pack me in a van and have me carted away when they see what I’ve done with her life,” Elice told New York Post, “Or I’ll start doing what Arthur Laurents always said about musicals, ‘They don’t get written. They get rewritten!’. Her life is so wildly documented. There is not much we don’t know about her. I was not a fanatical Cher fan, but when I started working on this show, I was surprised at how much I knew.”The show will reportedly take the audience through the singer’s childhood, her marriage to Sonny Bono and then through her solo career. The musical, which has not been officially confirmed for a Broadway debut, will likely feature Cher hits including ‘I Got You Babe,’ ‘Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves,’ ‘Take Me Home,’ ‘Believe’ and ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’.
