If you are the only person on planet, who haven’t yet heard of RuPaul’s Drag Race, it should be clarified, that it is an American reality competition television series, hosted by a famous drag queen – RuPaul. The show demonstrates RuPaul’s search for “America’s next drag superstar”. RuPaul’s Drag Race has spanned eleven seasons and made some related spin-offs, and has become the highest-rated television program on Logo TV.
While host RuPaul nabbed the Emmy award in 2016 for Outstanding Host, the show itself after 11 seasons has not been nominated for the award yet. When Ru picked up his Emmy last year, he said: “Earlier this year I was quoted saying I’d rather have an enema than an Emmy. But thanks to the Television Academy, I can have both!”
And in 2017 RuPaul’s Drag Race has finally been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Series. The show is facing off against Amazing Race, Ninja Warrior, Project Runway, Top Chef and The Voice. RuPaul is also nominated for Best Host. He is facing off against Snoop Dogg, for Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, Gordon Ramsay, for Masterchef Junior, Alec Baldwin, for Match Game, Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, for Project Runway, and W Kamau Bell, for United Shades of America with W Kamau Bell.
The Emmys will be hosted by Stephen Colbert and will air on 17 September, 2017.
