L Fest was developed by Cindy Edwards in 2010 and was “a multi sports weekend for women who liked women” at first. As the time passed, the festival grew bigger and became to a music, arts and comedy festival with its own cinema as SpringOut, The Rainbow Film Festival and Laughing Cows Comedy. From the start of just one event, L Fest now runs 3 international events, the L Fest awards and the L Fest Foundation all creating The World of L Fest. It is “the UK’s only lesbian festival” that has won many national and international awards for Best lesbian event and Best Festival, so we can only imagine the magnitude of the event.
In 2017 L Fest is taking place at Prestwold Hall in Loughborough, UK from Friday, July 21, until Monday, July 24. The event, which is to see Sian Evans and Toby headline, will include dance, cabaret, DJs, film, music, poetry, hot tubs, authors and more. The website of the festival states: “L Fest welcomes everyone who supports what we stand for and wants to be part of this wonderful community. We welcome and encourage the whole LGBTQI community and our straight allies.”
