Trump rallies with a religious leader who accused gays of child molestation

Donald Trump has continued his defiant association with an extreme pastor who previously accused all gay people of being paedophilles and child abusers. Trump has repeatedly come under scrutiny over his ties to Pastor Robert Jeffress, of Dallas First Baptist Church. He was shunned by the moderate Republicans for his hateful homophobic comments, but now he appears to be closely connected to the POTUS.Back in January, Jeffress led a private prayer ceremony for Trump’s inauguration, while in May the pair were pictured posing together in the Oval Office.Despite clear warnings about Jeffress, the President solidified the relationship over the weekend, attending a rally hosted by Jeffress at the Kennedy Center. A choir serenaded Trump with a hymn titled ‘Make America Great Again’, while in a speech Trump hit out at the “fake media”.Jeffress had directly equated gay people to paedophiles in his radio show and simple googling of his name will show the claim s were not fake and he was not going to apologize for them. He has also compared homosexuals to people who rape animals, claiming: “God’s plan for sexuality is one man with one woman in a lifetime commitment called marriage. Any deviation from that is sin. Of course, I’m always, the retort to that is ‘oh! Are you pulling a Rick Santorum and saying that homosexuality is like bestiality, uh, incest, or pedophilia’? And I say ‘Yes.’. It is just as immoral as those practices.”
