RuPaul’s Drag Race season six alum Gia Gunn has celebrated being legally recognized as a woman and having her new name fixed in a birth certificate. She publicly came out as transgender earlier this year in Instagram marking the Trans Visibility Day. She started battling for the new documents recognizing her identity in April. ‘Today is a new beginning! I had my official court appearance for my legal name to be changed to Gia…my wish was granted!’she wrote at the time. Last week she confirmed her new birth certificate arrived with a photo and post on her Twitter account. ‘No document will ever validate or justify my gender, but I am so proud of myself for getting this done! See your LGBT center for help,’ Gia wrote. Now she is going to be a role model for trans people which are currently on the very beginning of transition journey. ‘Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey… if you are in transition, or struggling with your gender identity, I want to hear from you in the comments and let’s be visible,’ she said in her coming out video.
