L’Oréal ambassador Cheryl expressed her opinion about trans model’s racism row

Cheryl has responded to comments by transgender model and activist Munroe Bergdorf who was sacked by L’Oreal for calling all white people racists. Appearing on the Victoria Derbyshire Show today to defend her position, Bergdorf cited L’Oréal brand ambassador Cheryl. Munroe said that the singer used to be convicted of punching a woman of color in the face. In 2003, Cheryl was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an altercation with nightclub toilet attendant Sophie Amogbokpa, although the court ruled the conflict between them was not racially motivated. A spokesperson for Cheryl told OK! Online: “More than 14 years ago Cheryl was unanimously acquitted of a charge of racially aggravated assault. She is disappointed to find her name involved in Munroe Bergdorf’s media interview.”
