Spice Girls’ musical will return

The ill-fated Spice Girls musical Viva Forever may be back on West End and Melanie C is involved. Viva Forever was written by Jennifer Saunders and follows the character of Viva as a budding pop star on a TV talent show. It features a lot of the girlsband’s songs – Wannabe, Who Do You Think You Are, and of course the one which the musical was named after – Viva Forever. “The music lends itself so well to musical theatre. “I just think, at some point, we will [bring it back],” Mel C told Gay Times, “It’s something we talk about. We’d really love to make that work and for people, not only in London to enjoy it but tour it and take it international. We’d love to do that!” Viva Forever had a short West End run, only playing for seven months before closing in June 2013.
