Craig Revel Horwood promised there will be same-sex couples in the legendary show as soon as next year, in spite of BBC bosses’ claim that there is no such plan. In an interview on ITV’s Lorraine, the Strictly judge discussed the recent controversy that has surrounded the show regarding same-sex dance pairs saying that if same-sex couples are permitted on the professional dance arena then why shouldn’t they be introduced on Strictly? He reminded us that tango, for example, emerge as a representation of an argument between two men, so there is no reason to insist that it can be danced by a man and a woman only. “The BBC just have to decide what year they want to do it. I think it is going to happen next year,” Horwood said. Although the BBC spokesman still insists that the mixed-sex couples are a longtime tradition of the show they are not going to change.
