Malta consists of three inhabited islands – Malta (the largest), Gozo, and Comino. Malta Pride is an equal new event and approaching to its fourth year in 2017. However, within a short space of time, it has grown from 80 partakers to near 1,000. The parade completed with a float ridden by drag queens in wedding dresses and an open-top bus, was decorated with rainbow flags and balloons. Pride was greeted with passers and shop owners.
It was political, with the aforecited float a protest against the government’s absence of action on same-sex marriage. After the parade was a concert organized by British drag queen and The Voice UK contestant Divina De Campo, then in the nightclub «Aria» to dance all night long.
