Ryan Murphy is making history with a new show that features at least 5 transgender actors in the cast. But Murphy and his Glee collaborator Brad Falchuk are behind a new TV show that’s in development at FX, they are going to represent the queer ballroom culture of New York at 80s. It also tackles other segments of New York society, juxtaposing the ballroom scene with the city’s creative hub and high-flying luxury business world. But what is really iconic is that the show will be more trans-inclusive than any other before. MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar, and Angelica Ross, all of whom are transgender, lead the cast. The cast also features Ryan Jamaal Swain, Billy Porter and Dyllon Burnside. However, trans community to be represented not only in the cast but also in the crew.Trans activists Janet Mock and Our Lady J are writing for the series, while the show will also work to bring through transgender directors through Murphy’s Directing Mentorship Program. According to Deadline, a pilot for the show is set to go into production next month. No air date has been announced for the pilot.
