Don’t judge all the Baptists by the WBC. Not all of them believe that God hates gay people. The First Baptist Church of Christ, one of the longest-running congregations in the city of Macon voted in August to give its blessing to same-sex unions. The SBC bans same-sex marriage and no member church is allowed to practice or celebrate same-sex marriage, but it was decided to change the policy and the pastor said it was a klong journey, it took years to make a decision which could possibly divide the church forever. The pastor says he and the deacons wanted to ensure that the situation with dealt with with mutual respect, and that all viewpoints were heard on the issue.
