Out of 2000 people were surveyed in the research across the UK by Lifecake, a staggering 75% said that the capital city is the best place for LGBT moms and dads to bring up their children. Brighton ranked the second place. Brighton was number two, having a little bit higher rating than Oxford and Manchester. Belfast was the first from the bottom and we are not surprised because same-sex families are not even legally recognized in Northern Ireland. The research authors told Gay Times:“The family dynamic in the UK has undergone a dramatic change within a relatively short space of time, with a shift away from the traditional nuclear family. Our study shows how social attitudes have evolved to reflect new these new family types”. The survey also revealed that there were 450 adoptions by LGBT parents in 2015/6, in comparison to just 80 in 2007/8. The attitude to the concept of family has changed too. Roughly 70% of men and 65% of women are in agreement that men are taking a more active role in parenting than a decade ago, and 42% of the young people surveyed said that they are in favor of gender-neutral parenting.
