As we reported earlier this month, the X factor UK paid a tribute too the late Wham! singer devoting one of the shows completely to his songs. But now it turns out that the watchers are not happy about it at all. They considered the songs to be destroyed by the X factor singers. In part they strongly disliked the idea of adding a rap verse to George Michael’s iconic hit ‘Faith’ saying that it would make him turn in his grave and those who loved and still love his music were horrified to see something like this happening. “I do wonder if the sound quality isn’t conveying as well to the viewers at home as it is in the X Factor studio. These singers sound awful and they’re murdering George Michael classics!” one of the watchers tweeted. Another one branded the show as nothing but disgrace and even suggested that the one who changed the original version of ‘Faith’ should be arrested for it. Of course, nobody ever will sing these songs as good as George did, the contestants probably realized it. The task was very hard to accomplish and they should have expected such a reaction because no cover would ever compare to the original. But killing George Michael’s songs was probably the last thing on their minds, they wanted to give them new life. But maybe they just came with it too early. Fans just cannot make up their minds with that fact that their idol is gone and his songs are sung by someone else.
