Despite official guidance that prevents trans women from being placed with male general population, this rule does not always work the way it should, especially for prisoners. Two sexual assaults on trans women that took place in at HM Prison Littlehey, a Category C male sex offenders prison in Cambridgeshire, are currently investigated by the local police. According to The Sun, one of the women was sexually assaulted in her cell on September 3, while the second was propositioned by a fellow inmate who demanded her to perform a sex act. A source told the newspaper: “Two allegations of very serious sexual assault in a short period is unprecedented. The prison is investigating and considering changes to the way it deals with transgender inmates.” Further information cannot be provided as the investigation still continues.
