God’s Own Country actor believes it will inspire for more LGBT films


The star of God’s Own Country Josh O’Connor believes that the success of the movie will be a start for a big amount of films devoted to the theme of LGBT. The actor, who is nominated for the EE Rising Star award at the BAFTAs, believes that the entertainment industry is ready to represent LGBT and to work on LGBT audience. “It’s great. I think it’s a really important stat. It’s an important stat because it’s good for the industry to know there is a hunger for films like this and the narratives like these,” he said to Bang Showbiz, saying that it is a massage for the movie industry to do much more such films because people love them and this is what they want to see. The film, which explores the burgeoning relationship between Johnny (played by O’Connor) and a gay farmer who falls in love with a migrant worker Gheorghe (played by Alec Secareanu). It is clear that the film has been popular with audiences, with a 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
