Several people are arrested in connection with same-sex wedding video in Saudi Arabia

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have arrested several people following raids responding to a video which allegedly showed a same-sex wedding. As the video went viral, it caused a strong backlash and criticism against foreigners and the local politicians, especially those ones that are trying to step away from the traditional conservatism in ruling the country. According to Alaraby, the people arrested are to be officially indicted as soon as possible. Aradiyat official Ali bin Youssef al-Sharif told the news outlet that they are being prepared for “referral to a public prosecutor.” Regional official Ali bin Youssef al-Sharif said that investigations were still ongoing. But he warned Saudis that they must adhere to the “morals and virtuous values of this blessed country”. The report of the wedding has not been confirmed, with some speculating that the clip was actually meant to be a parody.
