Georgetown University, which was established in 1789, has decided to team up its traditional ethos with its progressive values and offer special accommodation options for students who identify as LGBT if they want to. They have been asked for it for years but rejected all the demands, but now the university decided to approve the demand for the halls and offered their “congratulations” to those who fought for LGBT dorms being possible. “Our Catholic and Jesuit values call on us to engage with ‘respect, compassion, and sensitivity’ with our LGBTQ community,” said the campus’ Vice President, Todd Olson, “It is in keeping with our Catholic and Jesuit values to provide a language, perspective, and sense of inclusion for deepening our sense of cura personalis.” The LGBT group at the university has already called it a big deal. The accommodation will be made available in the 2018-19 academic year.
